Arlinda St.Fleur was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. Only 30 minutes outside of Manhattan, life in the urban city was always busy and bustling. Right in her own backyard, however, was her grandfather’s garden where she found peace and quiet in the constant noise. She spent every summer helping tend to the plants and seeing the reward of her labor with fresh fruits and vegetables all season long. As time went on, she had to care for the garden by herself, which grew her love for gardening even more. She spent all summer of 2020 bringing her grandfather’s garden back to life and reliving one of her favourite pastimes. Once she left her family’s home, she didn’t have the space to start a large garden like what she was used to. But, she worked with what she had and maintained a lush balcony garden for 3 years. This introduced her to the lifestyle of homesteading and from there, her life was changed. Since then, she has been spreading her knowledge to friends and family, encouraging them to adopt some of the same practices, as it has helped her to understand what it really means to help the planet.
